GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – There will be no new truck wash in Grand Island.
At least not for the moment, as the Hall County Board of Commissioners voted 5-2 against Mid America Truck Washout building a new truck wash near the Bosselman Travel Center.
Several people spoke against the project during the board’s meeting on Tuesday. Mid America Truck Washout owner Chad Ruda told Local4 News even though his project was voted down he sees a silver lining.
“If nothing else these meetings have opened dialogue again and given me the opportunity to put it before the board,” Ruda said. “Try to meet setbacks that they’re requiring, maybe get a little further back from the river. Water in Hall County is always going to be an issue so we’ll address that.”
Ruda said even though people have opposed the project he has felt support for the mission of his company, which he says hopes is not going away any time soon.
“I think the thing that peaks my interest the most is the opposition’s realization that there is a problem and it needs to be addressed, and their encouragement of my family as a businesses family,” Ruda said. We’ll be around for a long time if we find a spot.”
Ruda said now he moves on and looks for the next possible spot to build the truck wash.
